This is a user navigation database that contains all AM broadcast towers in the Americas.
Over 12.000 stations will be added, so you can find them on the map in X-Plane and navigate to them with your ADF onboard equipment. Scenery objects will also be added.
I got the idea for this addition because my flight school, by lack of a nearby NDB, had a practice approach based on a nearby (hispanic) AM radio station. The infamous KCKY approach into Coolidge, Arizona. It consists of flying over the KCKY radio tower from the north west, and continue for a downwind to the runway. Since X-Plane didn't have this radio tower, I decided to find out its data and add it. And since I found a whole database from the FCC, I decided to add them all.
So this allows you to navigate by AM radio on your ADF receiver, or if you always wanted to find out where a transmitter was located, you can now jump into a plane and home into its location.
You install this by dropping the file into your custom data directory. X-Plane will then offer all contained AM-Radio stations just like they were NDBs. You can't listen to stations, you will just hear the morse code identifier, just like any other NDB. But you can of course open up a browser in the background with the corresponding web radio :)
All radio stations in North America, Central America and South America from the FCC database are included. By lack of data, there is nothing for the rest of the world. You can make suggestions for additions in the comments, but I will need at the least the lat/lon location, callsign and frequency of the desired station. And if you have KCKY approach plates, I would like to have them.
